Lightsaber

Stainless Steel, Brass, ABS, Leather, Wood-filled PLA, Polycarbonate, Adafruit Feather

Telegraph Key

2021, 175x110x75mm

Wood-filled PLA, Forged Copper, Arduino Leonardo

This modernized Telegraph Key speaks to the way technology has impacted the way we communicate across time and distance. With hand-forged copper keys and a 3D-printed wooden base, an enclosed microcontroller translates Morse code and can be used as a computer keyboard via Bluetooth or USB.

Seed Pod’ Pendant

2022, 315x70x35mm

Copper, Brass, Cast Bronze, Sterling Silver, Fluorite, and Waxed Cotton Cord

For this project, I wanted to take the opportunity to experiment with the organic form potential of metal casting from 3D printed parts. The petals were designed in Rhino and 3D printed in a castable resin which was used to produce bronze parts. The ‘seed pod’ blooms open like a mouth to expose the fluorite crystal inside, while the ‘roots’ terminate in a spring-loaded brass clasp. My goal was to create an alien object that doesn’t feel like it belongs to any specific time or place—somewhere between grown and constructed.

Infinity Aperture

2022, 230x55x130 mm

Aluminum, Brass, Copper, Nickel Silver, Acrylic, PETG, Wood, Arduino Uno

This device forms a portal through space and time, inspired by the concept of a McGuffin: the often extraordinary objects that help drive the stories we love. Sliding the lever opens an aperture revealing an infinity mirror whose lights react to touch through a capacitive sensor.

Crystal Pendant

Quartz Crystal, Brass, Copper, PLA, Adafruit ItsyBitsy, Lithium Battery

2020, 470x21x132mm

This pendant houses a lithium-ion battery and a tiny microcontroller that lights up the Quartz crystal when you touch it. As you move around in your environment or things pass by you, a series of photoresistors react to the ambient light and change the color balance of the LEDs.
